Description

Grover Cleveland: Comic Free Wool Stickpin. In 1892, Benjamin Harrison promoted Protection while Grover Cleveland advocated Free Wool. This enamel stickpin depicts an African American gentleman in a tuxedo sporting an "Afro" hair-do. His "collar" has the words "Free Wool", referring more to his hair style than to political issues. The figure measures ¾" x 5/8". This is a fun piece with political and racial overtones.
