Description

George Washington: Marquis de Lafayette Brooch. During Lafayette's 1824-1825 triumphal visit to the United States, a great many souvenirs were made, including this 7/8" x 1" glass-domed brass brooch with hand-colored engraving. Similar examples are known for Andrew Jackson and John Quincy Adams, presidential aspirants in the 1824 general election. This example is in excellent condition, but lacks the pin attachment and loop.
