Description

George Washington: Early Commemorative Snuff Box. An engraved portrait appears on this 3 1/2" papier-mâché snuff box. It is inscribed with the words contained in Lee's eulogy: "First in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen." It is a clean example with no major faults. We estimate its age at 1800-1810. This is the Hake book plate specimen.
