Description

George Washington: Copeland Centennial Pitcher. The English firm of W. T. Copeland & Sons produced several pieces of commemorative china for the American Centennial in 1876. Mugs depicting Washington show up most frequently. In contrast, this 10" pitcher hardly ever shows up at all. Washington is depicted on one side beneath an eagle and flanked by U.S. flags. The other side states: "A Memorial of the Centennial 1876." There are some condition issues which include: a hairline crack extending downward from the rim on the back side, a hairline crack extending upwards from the base on the front side, two spider cracks and two chips in the base. Still, it displays quite nicely, with no stains, discoloration, or repairs.
