Description

George Washington: Centennial Rapier. This 39" steel rapier may have been manufactured at the time of the Centennial in 1876 or perhaps for the centennial of Washington's inauguration in 1889, for ceremonial purposes. The grip is made of gilt brass and depicts a standing figure of Washington in military uniform reaching out and clutching a flag which is part of the handle. The hilt is slightly loose. There are no markings on the blade.
