Description

George Washington: An Important Liverpool Creamware Bowl Picturing Him as President. Washington was a popular subject for the Liverpool potters, but most of their Washington transfers are of a memorial nature. In the bottom of this bowl is a large and quite unusual transfer of Washington with "The President of the United States" below. Pastoral vignettes on the sides. Liverpool bowls are many times rarer than the more familiar pitchers. This one is in excellent condition, with a very bold Washington transfer. Minor wear to the bottom of the letters "TED" in United and the first "S" in states, noted for strictest accuracy. No damage or restoration. Formerly in the legendary Kenton Broyles collection. Diameter 9.5", height 4.25".
