Description

George and Martha Washington: A Lovely Pair of 19th Century Hand-painted Paris Porcelain Urns. Possibly intended for use as vases, they are elegantly formed and decorated, and in beautiful condition. Height of each is 9.375", no maker's mark. Paris porcelain objects are perhaps the most sought-after and valuable of china pieces honoring American presidents and historic figures. We are aware of a private sale of a pair of large urns picturing Andrew Jackson and Lafayette at well in excess of $100,000, as well as a recent private sale of a James Monroe at the $50,000 level. Some light wear to the gilded finish on George... Martha is perfect.
