Description

Daniel Webster Presentation Piece

Circa 1812 Liverpool Jug. 8" Liverpool pitcher with with transfers of a ship being built prior to launching, a displayed eagle with 16 stars, a wreath labeled "Daniel Webster" and "The Shipwright's Arms". Webster practiced law in Portsmouth, New Hampshire from 1807 to 1812 when he was elected to Congress. He opposed Jefferson's embargo and the War of 1812 as inimical to New England shipping interests. We suspect this piece was presented to Webster in recognition of his efforts to represent the interests of his region. Excellent condition.
