Description

Abraham Lincoln: Wide Awake Parade Cape. In March 2022 we sold a graphic Wide Awake kepi in a rain-proofed glazed cotton with a dynamic stars & stripes design. That kepi, from the J. Doyle DeWitt collection, realized $13,750. After the sale of the kepi we were surprised to discover the matching cape which we now offer. Regrettably they were not offered together, however the opportunity now occurs that they could once again be reunited! Constructed of the same material and matching design with stars and stripes motif, this extraordinary cape measuring 90" along the widest part of its radius has survived in amazingly well-preserved condition! Retaining the original closure ties at the neck with brass eyelets, pencil notations on the inside of the cape likely written by DeWitt identifying the item as "Lincoln Wide Awakes".

Condition: Expected honest wear and light soiling.
