Description
Abraham Lincoln: ABC Style Mug. 3 1/4" soft-paste mug produced in England for export to America. The same portrait of "President Abraham Lincoln" was used on ABC plates. These mugs were quite popular during the Civil War and examples were produced with portraits of Union Generals, either by themselves or in conjunction with Lincoln. This example has a very tight hairline to the right of the portrait. It has 1/2" and 2" hairline cracks on the back side and base, and two chips to the base, including a fairly large one. That said, the portrait is large and crisp and the piece, once displayed in a curio or china cabinet, displays well.Auction Info
