Description

William McKinley: Three "Full Dinner" Pails. (1) This 2.5" x 4.5" glass pail retains its original bail and tin cup lid. Nicely highlighted with gold-colored letters. This campaign piece made by the Albert Pick & Company, has long been identified as a candy container. Although its utilitarian purposes have never been proven, one thing is very clear; this novelty was to help the Republicans elect their man, by offering a "Full Dinner Pail" to the workingman. Much of the gold color still highlights the letters. Some oxidation can be seen on the metal elements and the handle has light wear. In overall great condition. (2) The glass pail by Tarentum Glass Company reads "McKinley and Roosevelt" on one side and "of the Full Dinner Pail" on the other. It measures 2.25" x 2.5" and the glass lid is not included. The inside of the glass has a slight residue with tiny white accretions and a cloudy area at "McKinley." Still in great condition. (3) The wooden dinner pail with bail handle has transfer portraits of McKinley and Roosevelt inscribed "Vote For Full Dinner Pail." It lacks the tin cup lid and has some wear at the top and handle. Measures 2.625" x 4.375" and is excellent. A charming display together!
