Description

William McKinley: Lidded China Portrait Box. 4" x 4" at the base and 2.25" high. Attributable to the 1896 election, as a Bryan mate is also known. The box is of delicately hand-painted china and carries a color transfer portrait bust of William McKinley on the lid. A light shade of turquoise is the predominant color upon which gilt flourishes and violet flowers are liberally distributed. Nearly invisible professional repair of the base, else very fine condition. From the Edward C. Gillette Collection.
