Theodore Roosevelt: Extraordinary Bronze Portrait Bust. 19" tall bronze by James Earle Fraser (American, 1876-1953). Signed Frazer 1919, cast 1991.

Depicting Theodore ("Teddy") in his typical garb of neckerchief and jacket with epaulettes. Roosevelt served as one of the 1,250 members of the First U. S. Volunteer Calvary Regiment, known as the "Rough Riders," during the Spanish-American War (1898.) In 1899, Teddy published "The Rough Riders," the first installment of which was published in Scribner's in January of that year. At age 42 (1901), Roosevelt became the 26th President of the United States after the sudden death of President William McKinley. We sold an example in our November 2007 Fine Art Signature Sale, lot #33391, realizing $20,315. that example being cast in 1919.

Condition: Excellent with a rich dark Patina.
