Description
Roosevelt & Garner: Jugate "Repeal" License Plate. This is, we believe, the best political license plate. There may be rarer ones but, for graphics and historical importance, this one ranks Numero Uno. It measures 9 3/4" x 5" and has portraits of "Roosevelt and Garner" flanking a frosty beer mug. The Democrats ran on a winning platform in 1932, promising to bring back prosperity and repeal prohibition. It took a while for prosperity to return, but FDR quickly fulfilled his promise to bring back beer. Talking about bootleggers, the consignor's father went to high school with Eliot Ness in Chicago. The manufacturer of this piece, Green Duck Company, was located a few blocks from their home and that is exactly where this piece was obtained.
