Description

Grant & Seymour: A Striking Pair of Lidded Rectangular Snuff Boxes. While most snuff boxes were round, these are rectangular with hinged lids. The only other examples in this form were made for Henry Clay in 1844. Condition of these is outstanding and how rare they must be as a pair? The Seymour does have some very light surface crazing, typical of these boxes, but this does not detract and the pair displays beautifully. While a variety of three-dimensional objects honoring Grant were produced, very little is to be found for Seymour. Dimension of each is 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" x 7/8". Selections from the Collection of Tom Charles Huston.
