    Description

Emancipation of the Negro: 50th Anniversary Pennant. 10½" x 30" silk-screened felt pennant with portraits of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass and Giles B. Jackson, inscribed: "Emancipation of the Negro July 4th to 27th 1915 Richmond, Va." Jackson (1853-1924) was born a slave and served as a body servant for his master, a Confederate cavalry colonel, during the Civil War. After the war, he was taught to read and write, was tutored in a law office and, in 1887, became the first African American attorney certified to argue before the Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals. He founded a bank and was an aide to Booker T. Washington. Toward the end of his life, he unsuccessfully lobbied for a Congressional bill addressing interracial labor problems. Fading with several areas of loss backed with patches. Framed to an overall size of 16 ½" x 38 ½".

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
