Description
Abraham Lincoln: Full Standing Plaster Statue. Well-executed 22 1/2" plaster statue depicting Abraham Lincoln, the nation's sixteenth president. Lincoln is portrayed standing, a rolled document held in his right hand, perhaps symbolically referencing the Emancipation Proclamation while his left arm is raised with clenched fist, conveying resolve and determination. The modeling reflects the late nineteenth-century tradition of patriotic parlor sculpture, when such figures were widely displayed in homes and civic spaces as expressions of national reverence. Likely produced in the late nineteenth century.Condition: Unmarked. Finished in gold paint with only minor wear to the surface. Overall in fine condition, with strong presentation.
