Description
Union Major General Samuel Peter Heintzelman Signed Carte de Visite. Signed at the lower edge beneath the image "S. P. Heintzelman / Maj. Genl". Alex Gardner, Washington studio imprint and two-cent Washington revenue stamp on the verso. The general is posed seated, in uniform. Light toning to image, edges lightly clipped, otherwise a clear image in very good condition. Heintzelman was an 1826 graduate of West Point and served in engagements from the Mexican-American War through the opening battles of the Civil War.Auction Info
