Description

Annie Oakley: The Finest Autographed Photo of "Little Sure Shot" We Have Ever Handled. With her insouciant expression and shotgun nonchalantly held on her shoulder, this is one of the most endearing photos of Annie. It is boldly signed in black ink in the field:

"Compliments
Annie Oakley
Koln 5/
1891."

Clearly this was signed in May of that year, when Buffalo Bill's Wild West performed in Cologne, Germany (she uses the German spelling of the city's name). It appears that she started to date it, but stopped after the "5" (for May) and a slash. The slash did not show up against the background of her dark leggings, and perhaps Annie saw no point in completing the date. Or possibly she started to date the photo and hesitated after realizing she wasn't sure of the exact date.

The cabinet photo is in very nice condition, with trivial corner wear and a little very minor light surface soiling. It would be difficult indeed to find a finer signed Oakley cabinet photo. 4.25: x 6.5" in size.
