Description

Abraham Lincoln: Large 1860 Albumen by Whipple. O-38, taken by J. A. Whipple in Springfield in the summer of 1860. It pictures Lincoln and Tad standing by the front fence of their Springfield home, while two neighbors (playmate Isaac Diller one of them) stand on the corner. It measures 13.25" x 11.5" [sight] and is matted and framed to an overall size of 19" x 17". It is affixed to the original photographer's mount, titled "Home of Abraham Lincoln." Small crease in the upper right corner of no consequence. Very rare in this large format and one of the few Lincoln portraits taken outdoors. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
