Description

Abraham Lincoln: Mounted Albumen of 1831 Thomas Lincoln Cabin. 16" x 12 3/4" albumen mounted to 22" x 18" board. Titled: "The Abraham Lincoln Log Cabin. This Log Cabin was built by Abraham Lincoln and his Father on Goose Nest Prairie, near Farmington, Illinois, in 1831." After helping his father, Lincoln, having reached his majority, went out on his own and traveled to New Salem. The photo was copyrighted in 1891, published by Root of Chicago and signed on the mount by Eleanor Gridley, Secretary of the Lincoln Cabin Association. Rippling, loss to mount, minor abrasion on one word of title. We don't believe the cabin still stands. It appears to be on its "last legs" in this photo.
