[Texas Rangers]. Photograph of Ira Aten Mounted with Two Inscriptions on Verso, circa 1889. 9" x 7.5" (sight), mounted and framed to an overall size of 14.5" x 13.5". This albumen print card photograph shows Sergeant Aten mounted with his fancy stock Winchester, in uniform, showing off a large blade, a revolver strapped on his left hip. Two inscriptions on verso, one by Aten reading: "Ranger Ira Aten, Camp Leona Jan. 1889." The second inscription is from fellow Ranger Walter Durbin and reads: "Ira Aten Ranger with Durbin Gun and Six Shooter & Knife." Taken by photographer F. Chapman with a small inscription underneath the photograph reading: "The Rangers of Co. D Frontier Battallion Circa 1888-'89". Minor staining.
