Union Major General Daniel Edgar Sickles Pair of Cartes de Visite. Including: (1) Bust portrait CDV of the general in uniform, approximately 2.5" x 4", no studio backmark. Very good. (2) CDV of the general seated in uniform, approximately 2.5" x 4" with an E. & H. T. Anthony, New York studio mark on the verso from a negative by Mathew Brady. Very good. Daniel E. Sickles (1819-1914) lived a life filled with scandal, success and misfortune. He was present at the Peninsula Campaign, Seven Days, Fredericksburg, and most famously at Gettysburg during which he lost his leg.
