Description

General George Armstrong Custer: Brady Carte de Visite. CDV of a standing General Custer in a studio setting. K-31, described as "From the unique, original, unpublished carte de visite in the author's collection." Obviously no longer unique or unpublished, this very rare Custer CDV has gold-ruled borders, "Brady Washington" photographer's credit on the lower border and Brady back mark. It was taken on or about February 15, 1864. Outside of a small ink stain below the albumen and some lateral fogging, as made, it remains a very fine example.
