Confederate Carte de Visite Album.Album with 12 Confederate General and Colonel CDV's, several of which served at Gettysburg and were either WIA or KIA. Included in the collection are the following: Colonel William Dabney Stuart with Fredricks, NY back mark. He was severely wounded during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg and died soon after on July 30. General John Bell Hood with an Anthony, NY back mark. Hood was severely wounded at Gettysburg. General Dorsey Pender with an Anthony, NY back mark. Pender was wounded on the second day at Gettysburg, and later died from his wounds on July 18. General George T. Anderson, no back mark. Anderson was wounded in the "Wheat Field" at Gettysburg. General Henry Heth, Vannerson & Jones, VA back mark. Heth has been widely blamed for accidentally starting the Battle of Gettysburg by sending half his division into the town before the rest of the army was full prepared. Heth was also wounded at Chancellorsville. General Albert G. Jenkins, Anthony, NY back mark. Jenkins was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg and again during the Battle of Cloyd's Mountain, where he was captured. He died days after his capture due to wounds and complications from having his arm amputated. General James Archer, Anthony, NY back mark. Archer was taken prisoner of war on the morning of the Battle of Gettysburg. He was the first general officer captured from General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. General James L. Kemper, no back mark. Kemper was the youngest brigade commander and only non-professional military officer in the division that led Pickett's Charge, during which he was severely wounded. General John Marshall Jones, Miley, VA. front imprint. Jones nicknamed "Rum" Jones for his fondness for alcohol, fought at the Battle of Gettysburg and was killed in action at the Battle of the Wilderness. General Richard B. Garnett, Anthony, NY back mark. Garnett was once court-martialed by General Stonewall Jackson for his actions in command of the Stonewall Brigade at the First Battle of Kernstown, and was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg. General William Barksdale, Anthony, NY back mark. Barksdale was a staunch secessionist. He was mortally wounded during the Battle of Gettysburg. General Wade Hampton III, Anthony, NY back mark. Hampton would survive the war and go on to lead the Redeemers as well as serve two terms as a U.S. Senator from 1879 to 1891. A fine group of rare Confederate images.
