Description

Abraham Lincoln: Samuel Fassett Carte de Visite. CDV of beardless Lincoln, Ostendorf-16, taken in Chicago by Samuel Fassett on October 4, 1859. It was a personal favorite of Mary Todd Lincoln. Very rare in CDV format. Back mark of "S. M. Fassett's New Gallery". Clipped corners with abrasions and loss to the albumen at top corners; otherwise, a clean example issued by the original photographer. The negative was destroyed in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
