Description

Abraham Lincoln Cartes de Visite [CDV]. This example measure approximately 2.375" x 4", with back reading, "Published by E. & H.T. Anthony/ 501 Broadway,/ New York/ From Photographic Negative/ in/ Brady's/ National Portrait Gallery." This is similar to the original by Mathew Brady, pictured in Lloyd Ostendorf's Lincoln's Photographs: A Complete Album as 0-89.

Condition: The CDV has some fading and yellowing. Tape remnants appear to be at the top and bottom edges, with some soiling throughout. The center of the right and left edges of the photograph have some buckling, and pencil marks are on the front and back (not affecting portrait). The back appears to have a toned adhesive wash, and a two-cent stamp partially covers the text "National Portrait Gallery."
