Description
Captain Fayette Smith Signed Carte de Visite. 2.3" x 4". A bust portrait signed on the albumen, "Very Truly Yours Fayette Smith". Smith was captain of Company C, 6th Texas Cavalry; which was raised in Dallas County in September 1861. They saw heavy action in many skirmishes and battles including Pea Ridge, Holly Springs, Corinth, and the Atlanta Campaign. The regiment numbered approximately 1,150 at inception; at the time of surrender, only 160 remained. It is not known if Captain Smith survived.Condition: Stray foxing and toning, with a bold signature.
