Description
FUNNYMAN DIXEY..
Please note: Autographs from the Leonard Finger collection have not been autenticated by Spence/Grad but we believe these autographs to be as stated.
Four Gehrig cabinet cards and four Sarony cabinet cards of noted comedian Henry E. Dixey. The four Gehrig cards from Chicago show Dixey in a plaid suit and as a plaster statue come-to-life (from "Adonis"). The Sarony cards show Dixey as the plaster statue and in three parodies, including one aimed at Henry Irving. The audiences at the time would no doubt have immediately recognized all of them.Auction Info
