Description

Abraham Lincoln: Oval Albumen on Gardner Mount. 5.75" x 8" oval albumen on 9" x 12.5" mount imprinted "A. Gardner, Photographer. Washington" along with a printed "signature" below reading "Your Obt. Servt A. Lincoln". O-80 (vignette), taken November 8, 1863, just eleven days prior to Lincoln's delivery of the Gettysburg Address. Gardner took five different photographs of the President that day. A fine image with normal discoloration from backing board and the glue used to affix to the portrait which is largely unaffected. A prohibitively rare image in this format. Matted and framed. From the collection of Dr. Michael Krane.
