Description
[Texas Rangers]. Joseph Walter Durbin with Three Other Texas Rangers Cabinet Card, circa 1887. 4.25" x 5.75", Rio Grande City, Texas, sepia toned. This portrait features four heavily armed Rangers, listed on the verso as George Parker, J. Walter Durbin, J. W. King, and Robert McNamar. The verso inscription further identifies the subjects as "State Rangers in Rio Grande City, Tex. Oct. 1887." Backstamped "Carl Waltgenbach, Photographer." The lower margin of the card has likely been altered. Minor dampstaining on verso; photograph mildly faded. A previous collector has written his name on the verso in modern ink.
