[Texas Rangers]. Walter Rowe Postcard Photograph, circa 1919. Measuring 3.5" x 5.5", this silver print features Texas Ranger Walter Rowe posing outside, his Colt revolver strapped to his right hip, a Winchester Model 1895 rifle in his left hand. Light silvering in some of the dark areas of the photograph. Small stain at the upper right corner.

Rowe lost one and a half inches off of one of his legs when he was wounded in 1918 while attempting to apprehend deserters from the U.S. Army. During the Mexican Revolution and troubles with rebel leader Pancho Villa, Rowe, in 1919, was sent out from El Paso as an intelligence officer to ascertain the level of sympathy Villa garnered from the populace of South Texas.
