WHEATIES PANEL COLLECTION. This glorious assembly of 46 assorted Wheaties panels is replete with that cereal’s familiar blue and burnt orange scheme. Determined collectors are challenged by the stark paucity of these panels, and when they do emerge, they’re usually in disappointing condition. Most of these were responsibly cut and are free of any conspicuous creases. However, in our itemization which follows, we’ve attempted to report condition (for the major stars) by the strictest standards. By virtue of their medium, Wheaties panels are rarely found in conditions exceeding "good." This collection however, which features 34 different, averages EX with none that are unacceptably substandard. Specifically, this collection includes Series 3 (1936) all cut to exclude "fancy frames" - #’s 5 (Greenberg VG/EX), 6 and 12. Series 4 (1936) - #’s 1, 2 (Gehrig EX), 3, 6 (2 panels), 9 (2 panels), 10 (2 panels) and 11 (2 panels). Series 5 (1936) - #’s 2 (3 panels), 3 (3 panels), 4 (Foxx EX), 6 (2 panels), 7 (Ott EX), 9 (Dickey EX/MT) and 11. Series 6 (1937) - #’s 1 (Dickey VG/EX) and 8. Series 7 (1937) - #’s 29B and 29F. Series 8 (1937) - #’s 2, 3 (DiMaggio GD/VG), 6 and 8. Series 10 (1938) - #’s 1 (Feller EX) and 15. Series 12 (1939) - #’s 1 (3 panels), 6, 7 (Greenberg (EX) and 8 (Ott VG/EX).
