Polk") as President, 1 page (8 x 10 in.; 203 x 254 mm.), Washington, 12 November 1845, being a partly-printed document authorizing the remission of penalties in a case. Docketed on verso in an unknown hand, "1845/Nov 12th Remission of penalty incurred in the case of John Y. Nicholson". Light toning on perimeter. James K. Polk authorizes "the remission of the penalties incurred in the case of John Y. Nicholson." The document reads in full: I hereby authorize and direct the Secretary of State to affix the seal of the United States to the remission of the penalties incurred in the case of John Y.
