The Georgia Pioneer (Cassville, Ga.): Trail of Tears, Forced Indian Removal from Georgia to Lands West of the Mississippi. August 11, 1838, 4 pgs., 15 1/2" x 22". Inside page headlines and local news coverage (Page two, columns 3, 4 and 5) of the forced Indian removal from Georgia to Indian Territory, the lands west of the Mississippi River. This was the infamous "trail of tears" begun in 1830 by the Andrew Jackson Administration as reported in a rare local Georgia newspaper with headlines such as: "CHEROKEE EMIGRATION", "SALE OF CHEROKEE LANDS", and "INDIANS NEAR HOME!!!!"Condition: Disbound, water stains, wear. A rare issue.
