Thomas Kitchin. Mexico, or New Spain; in which the Motions of Cortes may be traced. For the Rev. Dr. Robertson's History of America. [London]: W. Strahan and T. Cadell, circa 1795. 15 3/4 x 13 5/8 inches. Originally published in 1777 in Doctor Robertson's History of America, this being the 1795 edition. With inset "Supplement of the Environs of Mexico," depicting Mexico City, at the bottom left.

The map depicts the Southwestern United States and Mexico from the "Harbor of Sir Francis Drake" (present-day San Francisco) in the Northwest to Yucatan in the Southeast. Much of the land that would become Texas is labeled "Great Space of Land unknown," with "Tecas" named near the Gulf of Mexico.

Condition: Somewhat toned with ink offset where map was folded. A few small separations at the folds; separation at right edge measuring approximately 3 1/2 inches, reinforced with archival tape on the verso.
