Description

Jedidiah Hotchkiss Map. One page, 3.75" x 3.75" (sight), no place; circa 1865-1872. Original ink and watercolor map made by Stonewall Jackson's cartographer, Jedediah Hotchkiss. He was given a great deal of credit for Jackson's success in the Shenandoah Valley campaign. After Jackson's death he was assigned to Generals Early and Ewell for the last two years of the war. After the war, Hotchkiss worked as a topographical engineer in Staunton, Virginia. Matted and frame with two images of Jackson and Hotchkiss to the overall size of 15.5" x 10.25". Not examined outside of the frame.
