[Map] and [Ferdinand of Brunswick]. Map of Military Movements During the Summer of 1759. "A: Son Altesse Serenissime Monseigneur Le prince Ferdinand Duc de Brunswic & Lunebourg. Ce Plan de la Bataille de Tonhausen pres de Minden, Gagnee le 1er. Aout 1759..." Measuring 27.25" x 25", this engraved map is minimally hand colored and depicts the Battle of Minden during the Seven Years War. The battle was fought between the French, commanded by Louis, Marquis de Contades and a combined Prussian/Hanoverian/British force, led by Prince Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick, on the other. The result was a German-British victory. Large engraved cartouche at bottom right. Text along the left edge, in French, describes the battle. Key at bottom left also in French. Unevenly toned, with one minor spot of paper loss in the middle. Bottom edge is covered by an overlay of paper for protection.
