Description

Hi De Ho (All-American, 1947).
Window card
14" x 22"
No place; 1947

Directed by Josh Binney. Starring Cab Calloway, Dusty "Open the Door Richord" Fletcher, Ida Jones, Jeni LeGon, the Peters Sisters, and the Miller Brothers.

Cab Calloway stars as himself in this musical tale filled with gangsters, nightclubs, and jealousy in a plot inspired by Cab's biggest hit, "Minnie the Moocher." Mainly a vehicle for Calloway and his talented orchestra, this film featured other great jazz songs of the day like "St. James' Infirmary" and an a cappella version of "Minnie Was a Hep Cat," as well as performances by the sonorous Peters Sisters, the tap dancing Miller Brothers, and an appearance by Dusty Fletcher in a presentation of his famous sketch, "Open the Door, Richord." Given the social climate at the time, this film had very limited distribution and few posters or other advertisements remain from its release.

Condition: Lightly worn, with minor toning at the edges. Else very good.
