Description

1st Issue, R-9, Dunes Hotel $5 Las Vegas Poker Chip. A 1st issue chip from The Dunes, Beige with 5 brown inserts, mold has a repeating pattern of rectangles (Rectl). According to research by Campiglia and Wells from their 4th edition of The Official U.S. Casino Chip Price Guide, the chip was ordered by the casino in 1954 and 2 or 3 of the 6 or 7 known examples are badly damaged. This chip is rated an R-9 for rarity.

The Dunes opened in 1955 at the southern end of the strip and suffered financial troubles until it added the first topless show in Vegas in January 1957. It was closed in 1993 and imploded to make way for the Bellagio. This is a very sought after chip; one that all collectors seem to keep in their collections and, therefore, is rarely offered for sale.

Condition: This chip is in NEW condition, a beauty with great inlay and sharp edges. A major rarity from one of the most collected of casinos!
