US 46-Star Hoisting Flag. 90" x 58" cotton flag with 46 appliqued stars arranged in a row pattern of 8/7/8/8/7/8. Dates from November 16, 1907 to January 6, 1912 Canvas hoist with two attachment cords. Hoist inscribed " 5 x 8 B" and the initials of the original owner, "R. T. H." An attached paper tag reads "Bought on Lafayette St 25 cents". L-shaped repaired tear on third red stripe, small L-shaped tear on bottom red stripe, minor tear at top, reinforcement patch in upper right corner, light overall toning and fading. Very good overall. Sold with a 1949 gift letter from John Faupanus and a Flag Heritage Foundation inventory sheet. From the Dr. Clarence R. Rungee Collection.
