Description
Southern Overland Mail Company Time and Distance Table. One page, 11 x 14 inches, Kansas City, Missouri; 1868. A broadside featuring the time and distance table for the Southern Overland Mail Company, advertising its transport service from Hays City, Kansas, to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The through fare cost $140, about $3,000 USD today, while the way fare was 25 cents per mile. The journey, taken in a stagecoach carrying upwards of six people, took five days to complete and spanned more than five hundred miles.Condition: Lightly toned with smoothed folds; central fold reinforced with archival tape on the verso. A few small chips and very minor instances of loss, not affecting text. Light, scattered staining.
