Description

Soldier's Pocket Hymnal. 2.75" x 4.25". Printed boards. Pencil notation identifies the original owner as "Carlos H. Miller / West Lebanon / New Hampshire / Co. A 16th Regt. N.H. / Wagon Master." Miller survived the war and was mustered out in June 1865. It appears this hymnal was again taken to war fifty years later. A second pencil inscription on the inside front board, dating from the First World War, reads: "enlisted Dec. 31. 1917 / Lester W. Haskins / Co. R 8th Reg. Division / Motor Supply Train."
