Description

Leather-Covered Confederate Canteen.
Homemade wooden canteen measuring 9" across and 3" deep. It is covered in leather, secured with rivets. There are two metal loops to accommodate a strap. The spout is wooden, of tapered octagonal shape. One side is inscribed. We think the top line reads "C. S. Ball", but are not sure. The rest of the inscription reads: "7th Georgia Cav". It was purchased by the consignor at the Ashland, Ohio Civil War show about 30 years ago.
From the Collection of Don Limpert
