Description
John Wilkes Booth: 1864 Boston Museum Playbill. 4 3/8" x 14.25" playbill for the May 14, 1864 afternoon appearance of William Warren in the comedy "Serious Family" at the Boston Museum. The playbill announces that John Wilkes Booth will appear in "Damon and Pythias" that very evening and in "The Wife" the next evening, and in "The Marble Heart" the following Saturday. The playbill also announces that "The Corsican Brothers," starring Booth, is in preparation. By this time, Booth was nearing the end of a four-week engagement at the Boston Museum. He would appear in "The Corsican Brothers" on May 28, which would mark the final performance of his touring career. The playbill was printed in Boston by F.A. Searle.
