Description

John F. Kennedy: His 1956 International Driver's License, with Most Unusual Photo. Name and vital statistics filled out in pencil, in Kennedy's own block-printed handwriting. This license was issued for a planned August 1956 European trip after the Democratic National Convention, but the trip never took place. Quite possibly it was planned as a contingency in the event that Kennedy secured the Vice Presidential nomination at the convention in order to increase his visibility and stature.

Excellent condition, with one tiny edge tear on front cover mentioned for strictest accuracy. 4" x 6.25". Accompanied by Evelyn Lincoln letter of authenticity and provenance. Purchased by the consignor in the Guernsey's 1998 auction of the Robert White Collection, where it hammered for $6600.
