Description
Confederate Broadside for a Sutler in Jubal Early's Division. One page, 8" x 11.5". Issued by W.P. Eliason, "Sutler of Early's Division," this broadside "offers for sale to officers and soldiers" over fifty items, including "Superior, medium and common qualities of chewing and smoking tobacco," toiletries, fruits, vegetables, spices, oysters, brandy ("sold only to officers"), tinware, and "Ground Confederate Coffee," just to name a few. Small spots of paper loss at the edges have been expertly repaired on verso using archival tissue. Water staining is evident at the edges, especially at the upper right corner. Spots of foxing scattered throughout. To our knowledge, this is the only known copy of this broadside to exist.Auction Info
