Description

1915 Empire State Campaign Committee Suffrage Archive. A delightful collection of campaign material related to the failed 1915 campaign to add a suffrage amendment to the New York State constitution. Included is the colorful sheet music for the tune "Votes For Women - Suffrage Rallying Song", words and music by Edward and Marie Zimmerman, privately published by the couple in Philadelphia, 1915. Also included are five handbills, three issued by the Empire State Campaign Committee, with two examples associated with either later or earlier New York campaigns. Two booklets - one by Alice Stone Blackwell titled "Objections Answered"; the other titled "Instructions for Women Watchers, November, 1915", a 5" x 7" color lithograph of the Ladies Union and Society Building complete the lot. A couple of the handbills are slightly chipped along the edges, but generally all items are in excellent condition. From the Judith Kaplan Women's History Collection.
