[Slavery]. Receipts for Slaves purchased by the heirs of Hardy Bryan from his estate following his death in 1859. Six pages, 8" x 10", ca. 1859, likely in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. Includes lists containing numerous names of slaves, along with their prices. On lined blue paper with folds.More Information:
Hardy Bryan (1799-1859) was a wealthy landowner with vast holdings in Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana. At his death, he owned 406 slaves, and his estate was valued at over $600,000.
