Description

[Samuel Clemens] Mark Twain: Pair of Wall Hangings. 8" x 10" and 10" x 14" respectively. A pair of unrelated Mark Twain wall hangings. The first of which has pictures of the following listed monuments, and states, "Mark Twain Centennial. Samuel Langhorne Clemens. November 1935. Memorial Lighthouse. Cardiff Hill - Missouri. Overlooking the Mississippi. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. First Monument Erected to Literary Characters." There is also a thermometer embedded in the piece, and a plate inscription reading, "The Thos. D. Murphy Co. Good Will Builders. Red Oak, Iowa." The second is a mold of Twain's bust in portrait form, and states, "Born Florida Mo. 1835. Died Redding Conn. 1910. Samuel L. Clemens. Mark Twain."
